A Stained and Painted Dining Table for a meager $130.00
This is A Stained and Painted Table that I did back in 2014. I needed a desk but was not ready to re do the office the way I want to do it so I went to Ikea and got this Ingo table for $69.00 bucks. Cheap! I used Minwax Jacobean stain on the top after I painted the base and edges of the table an off the shelf bright white enamel paint. I used the Nagoya all over stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils for $39.95 . (not affiliated). I finished with a couple of coats of satin Polycrilic.
I have seen some on Pinterest but they stained over the paint. It mutes the white. I like the higher contrast of painting over the stain. I did one coat and left the stencil in place till the first coat dried then did a second coat and when that was dried, I moved the stencil to the next position and repeated. this is a great way to get a very contrasting and saturated look but letting it dry on the stencil will do two things. It will make the application bleed under the stencil eventually and it will make your stencil harder to clean when you are finished with the project. Just thought you should know before you follow my lead. I luckily did not have many moves as the table area was not very large so there was minimal bleed that i touched up as I needed to. The cleaning of the stencil on the other hand………sheesh! Well, you can guess….. This was fun and I love the way it turned out.
Have you stained and painted any furniture? Let us all know how you did it and post a pic in the comments ! Love to hear from you and see your project too!
