Finally the Finale!
Ahhhhhhhh! I am sitting here with a glass of ………..you guessed it! Chardonnay! My dogs are barking! (not my Shepherds…..my feet!) I have been working my buns off! (oops! Darn! still there!)It is late on Wednesday. The deadline for the One Room Challenge Reveal is a mere 3 hours away. I had planned it so that I would have a couple of days to play with accessories and get every detail right. It did not work out that way. The best laid plans…….. as it was, I had only a couple of hours to “dress” the room.
I should not have stayed up so late last night watching the election coverage but I had to. I was afraid that something would change drastically if I went to bed! I did not want to wake up in the morning and be shocked at who was our new president. Seems everyone was shocked anyway!
Back to the room though……… I am really loving my new Dining Room. While I love some Hollywood Romantic Glam, I live in the real world. I have a traditional husband and I love my Shepherds endlessly. I could not have a room in my home that would be to precious. The girls are going to track mud,(husband too!) They are going to shed…….I wanted a lovely room to entertain in because we love having friends over but it had to be real world usable! I want my friends to be comfortable not apprehensive about a spill or something. My house is also a 1959 brick ranch. High bling would look terribly out of place! I now have a lovely useable, comfortable dining room that also speaks to my aesthetic for glam!
Whatever you like about the room, keep in mind that I spent less that $1,500. on this room re do. That includes the furniture! I purchased the Wine Bar and the table just for this makeover. I tiled the ceiling, re did the Wainscot, and purchased some paint and accessories. How? you ask? I did shop my house and use some things that I all ready had but even if you add up every single thing in the room, you would be under $2,500.00.
If you are not yet a member of the pack, sign up to get updates and you will receive tutorials and buying tips on everything I did to the room. Take these lovely Geode Slice Napkin Rings for example. Have you priced anything Geode? You can not buy a Geode slice for under $13.00 with many costing more, let alone anything made with them costing a small fortune! I made these, they are real and the cost me less than $8.00 each. Stick around for the tute! I also altered the wine glass shelf for the wine bar. Secrets…secrets…!
No More Suspense!
One Room Challenge Reveal
I placed each and every tile with my own two hands……
Geode Pics…Made em!
My little animal heads!!!!! They are also little planters!
The wine bar shelf……..I wanted under lighting…..may still happen, stay tuned!
A One Woman Show…….
I think not! I must take a moment to thank firstly my dear patient, generous husband Moe…errrr……..JT……yeah, yeah, that’s him…JT! Without his
financing , support, none of this could have been possible! I feel like I am accepting an Academy Award!
I also need to thank Sophie and Bella, The Shepherds, who insisted on inspecting every box, bag and package that came in the house! They alerted me every time
a cat a delivery person pulled up in front of the house, laid between my feet as I hammered, glued and hung and dispersed more Sheppie hair every time I vacuumed the rug!
Lastly but most certainly not least, I would like to thank my dear friends Shawn and Bob who helped with the Wainscoting, Ran to the store for more trim, and heroically put together the Dining Room table at the last minute! Shawn was my one woman cheering squad throughout the whole project! Thank you for being our friends!
