I know it has been a month since I last sent out an E-Mail update! But I have not been Slacking Off ! I swear ! (on occasion)
No Slackers Allowed Here !
I have been posting but mostly we have been working hard around here! The Furniture has been flying off the floor! (the garage floor) !
All of A sudden people needed furniture. Our furniture! Most of you know that I paint Furniture but hubby and I also flip furniture . The flipping part of our business started as an accident. (sort of). I was buying pieces that I thought would be great to paint. Not the pieces I really wanted, because those are few and far between, but pieces I thought would “do” while I scoured Estate Sales and Thrift Stores for the pieces I really crave. Once you get something home and have a real good look at it, it seems overkill to do anything to it. If you paint it and can not get enough out of it to make worth the time and materials, but you can turn a nice little profit on it just as it is, then just sell it as is.
Here are A few pieces we have recently sold.
This is a dinosaur of A T.V. Cabinet as most have flat screens now. I was planning to turn it into a bar or a craft cabinet or a baby Armoire. If I have A lot of projects working, I will list a piece even if I have plans for it. If someone wants it “as is” at the price I list it for then all the better !
Cha ching! No Elbow grease needed !
This piece was never intended to be sold “as is”. I had big plans for this piece. A couple from Fort Hood had just moved to the area, had no furniture and came to buy the queen size beach style bed below. They had a seven year old and needed A dresser for him. I let them talk me out of it as well. It looked better when they got it as I had cleaned it up and it did have all the drawers. This pic is from when it first came home. I always take pics of the furniture I buy. It makes for better tax records. I don’t get confused, ( what have I bought and sold?) so neither do the taxes! LOL !
This was a real nice Singer sewing Table. It went fast!
Loverly pair of end tables!
I rocked these two Mid Century Modern tables foe a nice profit!
Craftsman table anyone! I was not about to paint this Jewel!
We were planning on painting this and the matching table and chairs I have to go with it. We went ahead and listed just this piece and sold it fast. I made back my money for the whole set and still have the table set I am painting to sell. Stay tuned for the before /after on that project.
My hubby picked up this Coastal style queen headboard with footboard and side rails for a song.
This trio was the cherry on my sunday this month! I bought them to paint and use in my house but then I had second thoughts because they were so nice “as is”. Apparently several others thought so as well. I had calls from Fort Worth, Austin and Dallas. They all wanted them and no one questioned the price!
An impromptu stop passing by a yard sale at the end of the last day got me rock bottom price on this pair and a super fast turn around.
While furniture has been keeping us busy,
I also have been doing some product reviews for Amazon.
I have decided they take up far more time than it is worth so I am turning those down now.
We lost a dear family member recently. We planted this Yellow Rose in his memory. Our dear friend Lynn’s “son” Manny. Also known as “Gratz” or more affectionately by the neighborhood as “The badass of Birdcreek.” “His Majesty” as Lynn referred to him, ruled his neighborhood with an iron paw, sashaying down the driveway and right up to passing dogs (large ones yet!) and ….bap ! bap! bap! speed bagging their noses, leaving them rendered helpless by the sheer gall of a cat that thought he was their better! ( he knew he was! ). Not a large gray cat in size but what he lacked in size he made up for in attitude! RIP Gratz.
We have finally found a way to replace these awful ceiling lights that put out nearly NO light with some retro fit products and we will be showing that in the next few weeks on the blog.
Let there be light!
Did I mention that we painted the really awful green exterior shutters ? I know you have yet to get a look at the 1959 bi polar ranch re do.
The launch is coming soon!
I have also been working on a tutorial to make your own footed urns. They are fabulous but they can run into hundreds of dollars and why pay that?
I think you’ll like mine! super thrift too!
Here is a peek at the before of a piece that is nearly finished. It has taken way too long. It had a lot of crazing going on the top that was not really visible at first. I thought it was ready to go and primed it only to have all the crazing show up on the top. I am a perfectionist so i have patched , sanded, primed, patched , sanded,……oh well, you get the idea.
Here is a quick peek at it .
There has been a bit more progress since this pic but I can not wait to show you the finished piece.
I a not about to rushing the process . I want it to be Gorgeous !
On top of that we have had the garden to get going and I am already getting the small Golden Pear Tomatoes.
So cute! They look like little flashlights!
Aside from the projects above there has also been the Princess Theme Birthday Party. You can see that here
So that’s the ketchup for now but stay tuned for the upcoming “1959 Ranch Re-Do Launch, The Footed Urn Planter Tutorial, As well as an editorial or two and some Product reviews.
Best of all are the upcoming furniture reveals!
Remember….If your going to do anything, do it with Verve!
