Meet
Crystal ~ The Snow Diva!
(Frosty’s Wife… “the first“)
Crystal is in her early to mid-fifties. Crystal is Frosty’s first wife. Frosty is now married to Diamond, a snow bunny he met at Mammoth one year when she slipped on him while he was still a puddle of sleet before he firmed up for the season. Diamond took one look at Frosty’s Carrot and she was smitten. Frosty gave Crystal the cold shoulder and he and Diamond slid off in a flurry to a new life but not before Crystal had the last laugh, Freezing all of Frosty’s assets and investing in a coal mine that snowballed her investment! Still bitter from being “blown off” by Frosty, Crystal tends to drink too heavily. Crystal always has a frozen Daquiri in her hand!
The Materials
This project has so many small details it would take a zillion pics to show you each move. It’s a good thing they are easy enough for a 6-year-old to do so I will splain it to you. (I’ll wait while you find a 6-year-old!) LOL!
I marked on the images above and directly below what I used all of the pieces for on Crystal.
I was going to stack styrofoam balls and cover them in white satin to use as Crystals base figure but then I happened across this preformed, fleece covered snowman figure at Hobby Lobby (50% off!) and decided it would save time and money. (have you priced styrofoam balls lately?). Not to mention the price of material.
This is a better look at her crystal necklace and ring bling.
Crystals Lips. Crystal was feeling what most women do when they are in mid-life….like they need a little something to keep that youthful “glow”. Crystal decided she needed some lip plumping. These red candy cane cupcake confections totally upped her game! She has the rosiest, plumpest pout!
This is called a Chenille Stem. It is in the shape of a Snowman. It’s tied that way with zip ties. It is meant to be unzipped. I bought 2 and used one just as it came. This is Crystals “Fur Stole.
How Crystal “Came To Life One Day!”
I wrapped the figure 8 chenille stem around the snowman form to “mold” it into the shape I wanted for the fur stole then placed a dollop of hot glue on each side where it lays on her waist.
Crystal in her “stole”. (above)
I placed a couple of the Crystal Diamond looking buttons (yes, they are buttons) where the zip ties were on her stole to hide them.
Too easy! This little card came with the crystal strands to hold the ends together. After removing enough pieces to use for ring bling and bracelet bling from the string I just wrapped the loose end of the strand back on the card and placed it around crystals neck and wrapped the other end to it as well. I hate trying to tie teeny knots at the end of fishline.
Beads secured to cardboard behind crystals neck. (above)
A spot of glue on the other set of crystal buttons and she has her diamond (previously coal) buttons!
Crystal’s Couture
Crystal often Seasons (winters of course) in Ascot. Fascinators being all the rage and what the best Snow Queens are wearing, Crystal must have a fur fascinator to match her stole! for Crystals Fascinator, I used the 2nd of the 2 chenille stems. I cut off the zip ties and measured a piece to sit on top of her head. I glued one end to the other with hot glue and a dollop more to hold it in place on her head.
Only the fanciest of feathers would do for Crystal’s fascinating, fashionable Faux Pheasant feather Fascinator! (say that 3 times fast!)
This was a little clip that happened to catch my eye by the Chenille Stems. (not in floral dept. By the way. Near the felt…strange?) A little-feathered clip I just clipped to the Fur Headband of Crystal’s fascinator. Divine!
Crystals “Karat” nose is no joke! 24 “Carats” of orange Austrian crystals for Crystal! (this was a 2 pack of large beads covered with small orange crystals in the shape of a carrot!) How deliciously destined was that find?!
Only coal crystals for our Snow Diva! Remember Crystal owns a stake in a Coal Mine! One black crystal bead glued on at an angle for each Cat shaped Diva eye! I had intended to buy false eyelashes to use but forgot! I just grabbed up a bit of the chenille stem that was all over from cutting it, dabbed the end in some glue and placed it on the outside of each eye!
Coal turns into Diamonds in more ways than one! You can wait a million years or so or you can trade some of the cash from selling it for a pair of these Swarovski Diamond rocks like Crystals. Held in place with two pearl tipped straight pins! Champagne color too! Only the best for our Diva!
Too Haute For A Snow-Woman?
In true Diva fashion, Crystal’s skirt is ice snowflake Tulle…6″!
Using part of the 2nd piece of chenille stem, measure it to fit around her waist and do the same again with the spool of Tulle, adding extra length to it for extra for fullness! Lay out the chenille stem and glue the end of the Tulle to the end of the stem. backfold it and glue it again to the top of the first glued tulle. Move down the stem an inch and glue the tulle to that place, fold the tulle back a half inch and glue the Tulle over the same place again.
This gives it a loosely pleated look. Do this all the way to the end of the chenille stem. You will have more Tulle than chenille. Place the chenille around Crystal’s waist and glue the ends to her. Take the “Tulle Tail” and lay it under the chenille stem so the Tulle goes all around Crystal’s waist.
“Limbs”
Crystal, of course, has .925 Sterling Tree”Limbs”! Find a couple of small Twiggs in your yard, cut them to size and spray paint metallic Silver!
Find the place on her side where you think the “Limbs” should be. Using a pointed knife, slide it straight in, pointing slightly downward. (you do not want her Limbs pointing straight out but rather at an upward angle.) remove the knife point, turn the knife a quarter(you are making a cross on her side with the knife.) Do this on both sides.
Put a dollop of glue on the end of her Limb and push it in a downward direction into the cross hole you just made and hold it for a few seconds till the glue hardens.
Bling It On!
In true Diva fashion, Crystal loves to be “dripping” in Diamonds! Take those extra crystal beads we saved before making her necklace and glue them to her “Fingers” and around her wrist for her Diamond Ring Bling and Bracelet! I found a pair of tweezers makes this so much easier to do!
Let It Flow, Let It Flow, Let It Flow!
The Champagne of course! (“Crystal?”)
I told you that Crystal loved to imbibe! She is never without her Champagne Glass!
Crystal The Snow Diva…..Duchess Of Drifts, Drinker Of Daquiries, Doyen Of Diamonds!
Don’t worry about Crystal! She’s got a whole new Fabulous life! Lots of cold hard cash, a crisp new look, A chill outfit and a cool new Snowdude! She’s A Diva and she knows it!
How could I just do a “Frosty” after all? I hope you got a warm fuzzy feeling for my Chilly “Diva” Crystal! I hope you’re having a great Holiday Season so far!
