Fixer Upper Farmhouse Style Decor Hack
For my Thrift Store Decor Upcycle this month I am Hacking a Fixer Upper Style Wall Decor item commonly seen on the show. I guess it would be more accurate to say “inspired” by a piece on the show. I know you have all seen the round pieces Joanna Gaines commonly hangs on the walls of the homes she styles. They have a half round cover on the bottom front and she fills them with greenery or dried Cotton stems.
I searched the internet high and low for a pic but could not find one. I did have this picture I took when I was at Magnolia Market of a similar item. The Fixer Upper decor Item in this pic is round but not solid like the one I’ve seen on the show but hopefully, it will jog your memory.
The Inspiration (or something close to it!)
The Fixer Upper show version is solid backed and has a solid front cover halfway up to about where the shelf is on these.
The Find
I found these Cheese Crates and for some reason it made me think of this round Fixer upper wall Decor piece.
I removed the lid……
Cut it in half………
Painted it gray(of course)……..
Stapled the half covering on to the round……..
Added a hanger on the back top…….
Looking good and rustic??
Tucked in some greenery…….
The Money Shot! All done! Rustic Fixer Upper Inspired Farmhouse Decor!
I hope you are inspired by my Fixer Upper Style Piece! The question is………
Do you have what it takes to take on your own Fixer Upper Thrift Store Decor Challenge?
Jeannee
And now for more thrifty goodness!
Check out what my fellow upcyclers created below!
The lid cut in half and placed in front is genius. It is perfect! I know exactly what you are talking about from the show. You did a great job.
Michelle, Thanks so much! I am so glad you “got it” but not at all surprised!

It takes a very crafty person to see something like you saw in this piece. It’s so pretty and so clever. Ps. Your last sentence is hilarious!
Colleen,
LOL! I am so glad you liked that! I think you’re the only one! Thanks for the great compliments as well! You ar making me blush!
Jeannee
That is such a smart idea! Gotta look for a cheese box when I’m thrift shopping!
Chelc,
Thanks so much! Go to a deli or even a grocer that sells cheese cut from wheels and ask them if they have any. They may just give them to you or charge a buck or two for them!I think they just throw them away but they use a lot of them!
What a great idea Jeannee! Very creative! Love the color!
Michelle,
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that you like it!
Jeannee
That’s an easy hack and a great find! I like your idea for that old cheese crate. The plants in it just make that. I’m Florence from Upcycle Challenge. I’m the one with the white sconce. This is my first time to be in this, but I enjoyed it.
Florence,
I’m glad you stopped by and introduced yourself! I love your Sconce! Thanks for the compliments and Welcome to The Thriftstore Upcycle Challenge! I hope we’ll be seeing more of your work in the coming months!

Great hack! Think I like the solid look better. I feel like my mom may have some of those wooden baskets in her garage stash! Visiting from Thrift Store Challenge.
Victoria, Thanks! I like the solid too! You may want to go grab those baskets because there are so many things you can do with them!
