You are invited into my home to experience first-hand how I express my creativity and enjoyment for the season through my own Fall Home Decor. When you think of Fall Home Decor, you think in mostly visual terms.Decorating with wreaths and florals and garlands, some leaves and even Pumpkins. Some will also think in terms of smell. Using Potpourri and candles to add a Fall Fragrance to their Home. I like to fill all 5 senses in my Fall Home Decor. I have listed my favorite ways to add;
Fall Home Decor For Your 5 Senses!
Our sense of sight is very powerful. it elicits great emotion, whether It’s a positive or negative emotion. That is why art is so popular. My favorite way to decorate is with highly contrasting colors. They really grab your eye. Here I used complimentary colors of foliage and florals to contrast the vivid color of my walls. Really grabs the attention…right?
Flickering candles and a glowing Owl adds more visual interest to the motif.
Here I used deep Burgundy and white whites.
In the evening the Pumpkins will be glowing. Creating a soothing and relaxing visual show.
Adding many types of elements such as the feathers to the florals, layering color and pattern.. all creates depth and interest to my sofa table display.
Velvety textures combined perfectly with sleek candles and gold metal.
I used more deep burgundy solid colors with plaids in complimentary colors as well as a bit of whimsy from the Fox and Stag Plates to create a visual wonderland table!
Our eye loves the many textures playing together in my centerpiece bowl filled with Fall Faves such as Pomegranates, Nuts, Leaves, Berries and Pine Cones.
Sound is as important as sight but may often be overlooked or just plain taken for granted. I like to have some soft music playing in the background when we have cocktail parties and even dinner parties! Silence can actually amplify peoples voices but the soothing sound of a piano is calming and I find conversations flow much better and at a lovely humm….
Here is a lovely assortment of instrumental tunes you could stream on your TV in the background of your Fall get together.
There are many ways to appeal to your sense of smell when it comes to Fall Home Decor. Potpourri is popular. If you are preparing delicious food, the aromas of which will be wafting through your home and can be very reminiscent of Fall. Aromas such as Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Pumpkin Pie! An easy way to always have your home smelling seasonal is by burning scented candles, creating a warm ambiance and even a little romantic mood if you’re lucky!
With cooler weather comes the instinct to hybernate! It’s so comforting to snuggle on the sofa amid flickering candles and the aroma of nutmeg in Mulled wine. That’s why it is so important to also have some velvety Pillows and silky Faux Fur throws to snuggle with your fave bunny in while enjoying a mug of that mulled wine by candlelight!
Ahh….the tastes of Fall! Warm Spices that smell as good as they taste! Soups and Stews are warm and comforting but for entertaining, you are going to want to serve something with the cocktails. This Cheese recipe is something I threw together one year and was floored by the incredible response from my guests. I always make it a staple at Fall and Winter gatherings now. The lovely wintry Fig Jam combined with Honey Goat Cheese is a savory sweet delight for your senses. You can get the recipe (if you can call it a recipe) HERE
